Crowded Platforms and Window Seats is about the joys and occasional mishaps of interrailing. Interrailing is a ticket that allows you to travel by train to 33 countries across Europe. I firmly believe that train travel is the future. It’s environmentally-friendly, it’s fun and there’s usually a buffet car.
As well as an account of the trip, there’s a chapter of tips and advice for anyone thinking of going interrailing themselves. The book also looks back at my first interrail adventure in 1988 so it’s ideal for anyone wanting to reminisce. That chapter is called “The Manager or the Rats” – you can draw your own conclusions!
